File Setup for Holographic Vinyl Stickers
Follow the guide below to prepare your artwork for printing on holographic vinyl. This method is suitable for non-vector files such as PNG or PSD.
File Requirements
- File Type: Flattened
.pngor layered.psd - Resolution: 300 DPI minimum
- Size: Actual sticker dimensions plus 3mm bleed on all sides
Example: For a 50mm x 50mm sticker, submit at 56mm x 56mm - Colour Mode: RGB
Understanding the Holographic Effect
Holographic material shows through wherever there is no white ink. Use a dedicated white layer to control which areas stay shiny and which print solid.
Creating the White Layer (Non-Vector Method)
- Download and open the PSD Template.
- Place your full-colour artwork on the Artwork layer.
- Use the White layer to control the holographic areas:
- Fill solid areas with black to block the holographic effect (100% white ink).
- Leave areas transparent or white to let holographic material shine through (0% white ink).
- Use shades of grey to create semi-transparent white ink areas — the darker the grey, the more ink will print. Black is 100% white.
- Ensure the White layer sits above your artwork layer.
- Save your file as:
.psdwith separate “Artwork” and “White” layers- or two separate
.pngfiles:filename.png(artwork)filename_white.png(white layer)

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not merge the white layer into your artwork.
- Do not use low-resolution or blurry images.
- Do not use semi-transparent edges unless you’re intentionally creating soft holographic effects.
